Request a Back to School Note!

For me, as a kid with undiagnosed OCD and still as an adult with mostly recovered OCD, transitions were and are difficult. As much as I enjoyed the mental exercises of school, switching to a summer schedule was hard and then switching back to a school routing in just a few months was hard.

It wasn’t about having school or not having school. It was about change. I found it particularly hard in college, when you added the aspect of moving in and out of a dorm every year.

All this to say, you are not alone if the back to school transition is difficult or daunting for you. You are not alone, no matter whether you are the student or the teacher, whatever your role in this change. Many people find going back to school scary and challenging.

Which is why two years ago, Not Alone Notes started our Back to School Note initiative. Anyone who is worried by that transition can request a note of encouragement specifically about going back to school, or you can request one in support of someone else.

The notes aren’t OCD specific, though they certainly can be, since that is a large part of our community. These Back to School Notes will be open for several weeks, until sometime in September, but regular Not Alone Notes can be requested year-round.

And here’s to a hopeful end to the summer! You can do this!
